Irena Sendler a fost o femeie de origine poloneză. În timpul celui de-al doilea război mondial a fost angajata pentru a se ocupa de instalatia hidraulica din lagărele de concentrare, dar acest serviciu insemna mult mai mult pentru ea. Ea știa planurile terifiante ale naziștilor… Avea o dubita in care punea bagajele ei voluminoase. La sfârșitul fiecarei zile, Irena punea in spatele dubitei genti pline cu copii, langa care statea câinele ei, instruit sa latre la toți soldații care, deranjati de câine nu mai controlau partea din spate a dubitei… In acest mod Irena a salvat mai mult de 2.500 de copii ! Când a fost descoperita i-au fost rupte mainile si picioarele, dar ea nu a renuntat la misiunea sa. In grădina casei ea a îngropat un borcan in care pusese o listă cu toate numele acelor copii. Ea si-a petrecut viata mergand in cautarea parintilor si rudelor acestora. La vârsta de 98 de ani Irena s-a stins. Nu întotdeauna Premiul Nobel este dat celor care o merită cu adevărat… Ea este o femeie de care merita sa ne amintim. Odihneasca-se in pace…
